I. Martin IncIis, Vice President – Product & Business Strategy, Ford Automotive Operations.
Born October 21, 1950, in Penang, Malaysia. Received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.
Joined Ford in 1971 as a graduate trainee with Ford of Britain and moved to Ford of Europe to become an economist in its Economic Studies activity. Named Director of Finance for Ford Lio Ho in Taiwan in 1985. Appointed Finance Manager for large rear-wheel-drive car programs in 1987. Named Assistant Director – Car Programs Finance in May, 1989 and
Director of Finance in January, 1991.
Appointed Director – International Automotive Operations Business Strategy and Latin American Automotive Operations in 1993. Became Executive Director – Product Strategy, for Product Development, Ford Automotive Operations, in October, 1994.
Assumed present position on November 1, 1996.
Some Current Ford Australia Initiatives:
Currently under investigation – additional Falcon derivatives – design work in Asia and Latin America – various programmes for affiliates
Magnesium project, announced earlier this year. Ford Australia currently exploring downstream business opportunities from that project – for example magnesium die casting once the commercial plant comes on line.
Toolroom – benchmark for efficiency worldwide. Successful export programs completed and now part of our global toolroom capacity.
Ford Credit – Australia is now regional centre for Asia Pacific, including provision of information technology services throughout the region.
More than 60 Australians now in key global positions around the world.
Conversely Australia is a great training ground for high potential Ford people from all around the world.
Ongoing exports of CTX and Mazda cylinder blocks.
Australia is Asia Pacific regional base for Safety & Environmental Engineering, plus Service Engineering.
And, of course, don’t forget existing exports of B/TJ Falcon product.
