Only 24 hours after is it was announced, Marcos Ambrose’s 2006 Team Australia race suit had already rocketed to over the US$1000 mark on internet auction website eBay.
Ambrose auctioned the treasured suit with all proceeds going to the Animal Adoption League.

The suit was worn by the Australian on 8 July 2006 when the Australian scored his first NASCAR pole position by topping qualifying at Kentucky Speedway in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. By doing so he became the first Australian to score a pole position in NASCAR.
The suit has been personally signed by Ambrose and is well-known for its striking green and gold Team Australia design.
“It’s great that the interest in this great piece of memorabilia has been so good so quickly,” said Ambrose.
“First and foremost, the auction is for a great cause. The Animal Adoption League is a terrific organisation and one that my team and I take pride in assisting whenever we can.”
“The price has shot up pretty quickly but I would like to think that it can go a lot higher. This is my first pole suit and the first suit that an Australian has worn on the pole in a NASCAR event. It will certainly be a collector’s item for years to come.”
Fans had the opportunity to bid for this special piece of memorabilia on eBay.com.
A lucky Australian Marcos Ambrose fan has captured the piece of motorsport history by becoming the winning bidder in the online eBay charity auction for the Animal Adoption League.
The winning bidder posted the winning bid of US$3000 (A$3446.30) to win Ambrose’s 2006 Team Australia race suit, with over 50 bids placed on the item.
