XR8 Rebel - Serious Fun & GamesXR8 Rebel - Serious Fun & Games

The new, limited edition, XR8 Rebel has all the bells and whistles you could expect in one of the best locally built performance cars - a 220kW, hand-built, V8 engine, 18" alloy wheels, unique styling – plus a little black box to use at home.

The 'little black box' is one of the hottest entertainment systems going around – a Sony Playstation2 complete with DVD, audio CD and game capability.

Each XR8 Rebel owner will also receive a signed copy of the newly released Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (GT3). The games will be autographed by V8 Supercar heroes Glenn Seton and Steven Richards from Ford Tickford Racing (FTR). The FTR XR8 Supercar is one of the heroes of the GT3 car line-up. The Gran Turismo franchise is one of the world's top selling drive simulators with over 17 million copies of the preceding versions sold around the world.

"There's no substitute for the real thing," says FTR ace Glenn Seton. "But this is as close as it gets. It's great fun."

The FTR Supercar was included in GT3 by Sony to give racers a chance to run an Australian 'supercar' up against some of the most exotic metal from around the world.

"GT3 gives everyone the opportunity to drive the cars of their dreams" says Michael Ephraim – Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment. "GT is synonymous with realism so it was a real coup for us to be able to build in an Australian vehicle. The inclusion of the FTR race car means you can race a home grown V8 against the best in the world."

Rebel XR8
The XR8 Rebel can be identified by its Ford Racing-endorsed body kit that features unique side skirts with grey inserts that wrap around the deep sculptured rear bumper. Mesh inserts on the rear complete the athletic look of the Rebel.

The XR8 Rebel is fitted with 18"x8" seven spoke, alloy 'Speedline' wheels and P245/40ZR18 Dunlop SP 9000 tyres.

A Momo leather steering wheel and gear knob have been added to the interior.

"The reaction to the new 220kW XR8 has been very strong. The upgrades have really hit a chord with our customers," says Performance Car Marketing Manager, Rick Nayler. "The new Rebel has all the race-bred XR8 features, unique styling cues and a PS2 as well – that's a pretty good combination."

The recommended retail price for the 220kW XR8 Rebel five-speed manual is $48,715, with the adaptive-shift, four-speed automatic retailing for $49,435.
