XR8 Power Push

The XR8 Falcon has been given a ‘power polish’ by Ford Australials performance partner, Tickford, increasing its output to 18SkW.
The XR8’s five-litre, sequentially-injected V8 engine now produces an impressive 18SkW at 4500rpm and 402Nm at 3100rpm, up from 170kW and 398Nm respectively.

The output increases have been obtained via modifications to the inlet manifolds, larger bore headers and a lower back pressure exhaust system. The rear axle ratio has been changed from 3.23:1 to 3.45:1 for improved acceleration. A limited slip differential remains as standard equipment.
“XR Falcon buyers have always demanded premium performance from their cars and they now have two exciting options with the new XR8 and the proven XR6,” says Falcon Family Brand Manager, Roger Clarke.
“The XR6 has a reputation as Australia’s best performing family-sports sedan and I’m sure Ford V8 fans will be just as impressed with the new XR8.”
Prices
The five-speed manual 185kW XR8 Falcon has a recommended retail price of $43,631 with the four-speed automatic priced at $44,355. Feature changes to all XR sedans in early September saw the addition of 16” alloy wheels and air-conditioning as standard equipment at no extra cost. Other standard features include driver airbag, leather wrapped steering wheel, front power windows and sports bucket seats.
