V8'S on Track Highlight Ford FG Reveal with New Falcon Banners

In place of the well-recognised FORD windscreen banners, Blue Oval aligned teams will sport the ‘NEW FALCON’ branding commencing at the Clipsal 500, applauding the recent reveal of a fantastic new Falcon range.

The ‘NEW FALCON’ branding will stay prominent for the first five rounds of the V8 Supercar season and the first three rounds of the V8 Utes, until the much-anticipated new Ford Falcon goes on-sale in May.

"Last weekend’s official reveal of the new Ford FG Falcon road-car signifies extremely exciting times for Ford Australia," said Ray Price.

"As our racing and road car programs are closely linked it was only natural to further highlight the importance of that mutual relationship by creating excitement and recognition among teams and fans at the racetrack."

The move will no doubt trigger anticipation for the highly-awaited FG Falcon racecar which is currently in development under the instruction of Ford Racing Manager Ray Price with crucial input from Ford V8 Supercar teams.

"We are very much underway with the development of the new race car," said Ray Price

"The opportunity to build a race car from such a strong base is exciting and the early indications for the vehicle look good. The styling of the FG Falcon is sensational and what better standpoint to develop the ultimate inspirational Falcon for racing."

"Now that the new FG Falcon has been revealed people will have more of an idea what the V8 Supercar version will look like, and will show increasing interest in the additional technical aspects that we are working on."

"We are very close to being able to reveal what we have achieved so far and the processes that our Ford teams have been involved in. "

"Ford is currently experiencing very exciting times with the introduction of its new road cars, and that is translating directly to the buzz surrounding the new look and technical advancements with regards to the FG Falcon V8 Supercar."

The Blue Oval is in an advantageous position to win the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship with its current model BF Falcon.

Ford has a number of contenders hungry to take out the title and already looking promising on track.

"Ford’s V8 Supercar teams are continually advancing the engineering, the equipment, the drivers."

Jamie Whincup was just two points shy of the 2007 Championship win, with teammate and ever-popular Craig Lowndes hot on his heels in third.

Barry Sheene medal winner Whincup has his sights set on securing his first V8 Supercar title this year in the #88 Falcon, with Triple Eight stating they are about to embark on their strongest year yet.

Lowndes will also be in the battle aiming to achieve consistent race wins, a third consecutive Bathurst title and a Championship win firmly on the agenda.

Stone Brothers Racing driver James Courtney is one to watch, the Queenslander topping the time sheets at the official V8 Supercars test day at Ipswich last week in his #4 Jeld-Wen Racing Falcon.

High expectations are held of Ford Performance Racing’s Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom who took out the 2007 pole position award, showing incredible speed which looks set to carry consistently into 2008.

"We have proven that we have some of the fastest cars out there, and combined with good strategy, skill and a high level of commitment, we’re ready to take out win after win, podium after podium this year,"said Ray Price.

Ford’s 2008 line-up of Falcon V8 Supercars are set to hit the grid this weekend for the first hit-out of the Championship season at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide (21 -24 February).

Clipsal will also see the debut of the 2008 V8 Ute season which showcases the Falcon Ute, which consists of seven rounds, all in conjunction with V8 Supercar events throughout the year.
