After starting the day from 15th after a frustrating practice, Paul Radisich keep his head down and out of trouble throughout today’s two 100km legs, converting a first race fifth placing to third in event two.
“In the end it was a pretty good result considering how far away we were in terms of getting the car right today,” Paul Radisich said.
“Both races I did what I could, and between them we tweaked the chassis a bit, but it really didn’t make much difference.
“In the second race I lost some time to (Jason) Bright in the pitstop and then after that it was just a matter of hanging on to the finish. We’ll get ‘em next time.”
Shell Helix teammate Steve Johnson had a tougher day, starting out of a disappointing 13th , he was caught-out by a mid-race safety car in leg one before he could complete his pitstop, costing him valuable track time.
That dropped him to a 15th place finish in the opening leg, a result he repeated in race two after chassis changes did not reap the expected rewards.
“The car wasn’t all that good all weekend but after we made the changes before race two it was diabolical, it was very, very hard to drive and there was nothing I could do with it.
“It’s days like these that make you appreciate the good ones.”
