Sydney Motor Show 2001 - XR8 Ute's Drive for IndependenceSydney Motor Show 2001 - XR8 Ute's Drive for Independence

The sales success that is the Falcon XR8 Ute has paved the way for the Herrod Motorsport Independent XR8 Ute, a work vehicle with attitude.

Subtle enhancements by Herrods have lifted the aggressive XR8 bodykit another notch with the Independent XR8 Ute, which will be driven away by one lucky winner. Anybody wanting to win the Ute need only fill in an entry form at their local Independent store for a chance to own the hottest Ute on the block.

Powered by the Tickford-enhanced 200 kW 5.0-litre V8, the Independent Ute cranks out 200 kW at 5000 rpm and 412 Nm at 3500 rpm and comes complete with five-speed manual transmission, limited slip differential (LSD), anti-lock brakes (ABS), cruise control and Tickford-tuned sports suspension.

Unique features of the Independent Ute include 18 x 8-inch Herrod Motorsport alloy rims, a 2.5-inch stainless steel Herrod Motorsport exhaust system, warm charcoal leather interior and specially marked tonneau cover.

For the uninitiated, Independent is the market leader in skateboard hardware and soft goods. The inventor of the skateboard truck, Independent is first port of call for serious skateboard aficionados. Independent is part of Globe International Limited, home to such other instantly recognisable labels such as Stussy and Mossimo.
