Ford Performance Vehicle's new Pursuit ute will be the ultimate representation of the performance utility.

"The combination of Ford's unique Supercab design, Boss 290 powertrain and GT looks and dynamics make the Pursuit ute a two-door GT in everything but name," says FPV Managing Director David Flint.

The FPV Pursuit builds on the cult following generated by the limited edition Pursuit 250 released earlier this year.

As demonstrated by the previous limited edition Pursuit 250, the Ford ute?s massive load structure, long wheelbase and constant track rear suspension deliver a balanced platform, laden and unladen, suitable for this premium performance application.

"The BA Falcon upgrades including improved front suspension, steering and brakes add to this comprehensive package," says Flint.

Safety upgrades for the BA Falcon ute range also apply to the new Pursuit.

The new Pursuit?s quad cam, 32-valve Boss 290 engine is the most sophisticated powerplant ever fitted to an Australian utility. Its strong, even spread of torque from low engine speeds and free-revving, crisp, sporty feel at high engine speeds is a perfect match for the dual work and premium performance application of the new Pursuit ute.

Handling, roadholding and braking levels in the previous Pursuit 250 were exceptional for this type of vehicle and its all-round capabilities were widely praised.

Ford Performance Vehicles has ensured that the total engineering approach that distinguished the Pursuit 250 will continue into the new Pursuit, adding substantial margins in brakes and roadholding.

The new Pursuit front styling shared with the GT is based on Ford?s V8 Supercar race car, highlighting the new Pursuit?s exclusive position as the only ute based on a top shelf performance model.

"The large air intake and low, wide stance also have direct links to high performance Ford models. This competition look is particularly suited to a ute as tough as this one with its emphasis on total performance and dynamics.

"Separate driving lights in the front spoiler, the prominent bonnet power bulge and the 18-inch wheel and tyre combination from the GT highlight the race-bred character that distinguishes all models in the Ford Performance Vehicles range," says Flint.

The GT front styling is part of an integrated Pursuit look that includes sculptured side skirts with rear brake cooling gills, again derived from Ford?s V8 Supercar race car design. The rear section features an extended rear skirt to continue the ground hugging high performance look.

A standard hard tonneau matched to body colour with a rear wing similar to the GT covers the rear load area and transforms the Pursuit for many buyers into a sharply styled two-door coupe with an extended boot.

"It's the best of both worlds. You get GT performance and dynamics combined with all the practicality only a ute can offer," says Flint.
