New Zealand will get its first official taste of V8 Supercar action when round 12 of the Shell Championship Series takes to the fast Pukekohe track south of Auckland for the Boost Mobile V8 Supercar International between November 9-11.
Ford will send ten officially backed teams of Falcon AUXR8 Supercars and 12 drivers, including New Zealand racing heroes Paul Radisich, Steve Richards and Simon Wills.
V8 Supercars last visited New Zealand in 1996 as part of the twin-event series with the Wellington Street Race.

This is the first time Shell Championship points will be up for grabs, giving New Zealand race fans a great opportunity to see a full 32-car grid in arguably the closest touring car championship anywhere in the world.
The opportunity to win the first international race is an attraction to all the Ford teams competing, but none more so than Radisich, Richards and Wills.
“I know the track very well, but that will be only a small advantage when you consider how many drivers have raced at Pukekohe,” said Radisich.
“It’s very exciting for me to come home and race in such an outstanding category of motor sport. All Kiwi fans will be blown away by the 32 strong 650 horsepower machines.”
“The track is extremely fast and challenging, but I feel the Shell Helix Race Team have a great chance in New Zealand after taking two wins this year.”
For Steve Richards of Ford Tickford Racing (FTR), the Boost Mobile V8 International will be the first time he’s actually raced at the Pukekohe track.
“I’ve been to the track many times to watch my father Jim race, but have never actually raced on it,” said Richards.
“It’s not like a street race where you have little idea what it’s going to be like before you arrive, so I feel that our team is ready for the challenge.”
“The FTR cars were very quick at the recent V8 Supercar 1000 at Bathurst and we aim to continue that form in New Zealand.”
The Cat Falcon will be the mount for Simon Wills, who drove the car at the recent Queensland 500 and Bathurst V8 Supercar 1000 events.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am looking to make the most of it,” Wills said.
“I know the Pukekohe track really well, but when you are driving in such a competitive class like this, that will not be a big advantage.”
“The track is very fast and was also quite bumpy in the past, but I believe there have been a lot of improvements made to the circuit in preparation for this weekend.”
Interest in the Boost Mobile V8 International has been unprecedented with tickets for the three days all but sold out.
Race fans will get to experience the full measure of V8 Supercars with three 100-kilometre races (one on Saturday and two on Sunday), as well as a top-10 shootout on Saturday morning.
Pressure won’t just be on the drivers, with team mechanics having to make a compulsory pit stop for tyres in each race.
