Only fellow Ford drivers Paul Radisich and Steven Johnson were quicker than the #5 FTR Falcon.
“It was a very good session for me – and I’m pretty confident of going quicker in tomorrow’s top-15 shootout,” said Seton.
“Our cars are very quick and I do enjoy racing on street circuits so everything is coming together.
“I wanted to make sure of getting good traction, that seemed to make the car very well balanced and the result was a good time.
Teammate Steven Richards finished the session in 15th place, but importantly made the top-15 shootout, which will precede the opening 25-lap race tomorrow.
It was a strong comeback from Richards who had a troubled opening practice session when a rocker broke in the engine.
The FTR crew replaced the motor in 90-minutes and Richards worked away at making the car go quicker and quicker in the qualifying session.
“We simply wanted to make the top-15 shootout,” said Richards.
“The team can now work on getting the car that bit better for us to move up the grid.
“I’m sure our troubles for the weekend are behind us and we can look forward to being strong in the top-15 and the races themselves.
Tomorrow’s top-15 shootout will be followed by a 25-lap opening race, which will include a compulsory tyre pitstop.
Races two and three will be run on Sunday.
