Seton Sets Sights on Winton

Ford Credit Racing's Glenn Seton heads to one of his favourite tracks, Central Victoria's Winton Motor Raceway on August 16 - 18, with his sights firmly set on moving up the order and even eyeing off a podium result at round eight of the 2002 V8 Supercar Series.

After a somewhat frustrating season, Seton put his Ford Falcon AUXR8 in the top-10 shootout at the recent Oran Park round, and if not for some minor troubles before the first race and a collision in the day's final race, he was set to finish well inside the top-10.

Seton heads to Winton with the added advantage of running at his team's dedicated test track.

It's also a place where he's scored two outright wins and two pole positions. The most recent pole came in 2000, when he set the fastest ever qualifying lap of the circuit with a 1:22.850.

"With Winton being the last race before the long distance events at Queensland Raceway and Bathurst, it's clearly an event I'd like to get a strong result on the board," said Seton.

"At Oran Park the car was easily the best it's been this year, and I'm confident it will be even better at Winton.

"Ford is yet to score a round win in 2002, breaking that duck and giving our team a massive lift would be a huge bonus for everyone concerned.

"The track is quite tight and passing is very hard, we'll aim to get the car right from the outset and qualify well inside the top-10, then go for it in the shootout and the races".

The Winton event has quickly become a favourite of drivers and spectators alike with its intimate atmosphere and excellent views of the track.

The 2001 event attracted a crowd of just under 35,000, with spectators travelling many hundreds of kilometres to be part of the action.

Winton in 2002 features two 100-kilometres races with compulsory pit stops, as well as a top-10 shootout on the Saturday.
