Ford Tickford Racing’s (FTR) Steve Richards will be after plenty of local support when he returns to the country of his birth for the Boost Mobile V8 Supercar International between November 9-11 in New Zealand.

Run at the famous Pukekohe circuit, Richards and teammate Glenn Seton will be part of the first official visit by V8 Supercars in the Shell Championship Series.

Richards After Homecoming Support in NZ

Seton has raced at Pukekohe before, most recently in 1996 at the twin-event series with the Wellington Street Race.

Although Richards has the hometown support, he?s never actually raced at the circuit south of Auckland.

“I’ve been there a number of times to watch my father Jim race, but never myself,” said Richards.

“It won’t be a big shock to me and I’m looking forward to finally coming back to New Zealand and taking part in a major event.”

“This will be a huge event, not only for us but also the thousands of spectators that purchased tickets many months ago just to see us race.”

After starting on the front row at Bathurst and bringing both cars home in the top-10 at that event, as well as seventh and eighth at the recent Gold Coast Indy support races, Seton believes FTR can go on with the job in New Zealand.

“We have made great gains in our cars since Bathurst,” said Seton.

“Steve and I didn’t bend any panels on the Gold Coast streets, so we are set for New Zealand,” said Seton.

“From a team point of view we want to end the year strong – winning at Pukekohe then back home at Sandown in Melbourne are our goals.”

“Pukekohe is fast, which both Steve and I like that, so we are confident of doing the job at an event I’m sure will provide plenty of action and entertainment.”

New Zealand fans will get to experience three 100-kilometre races (one on Saturday and two on Sunday), as well as a top-10 shootout on Saturday morning.

The FTR mechanics will also need to be at their best with compulsory pit stop in each of the three races.
