The first of FPV?s Performance Driving Courses were conducted in Sydney and Melbourne recently, where more than 25 owners of the new GT, GT-P and Pursuit Ute experienced first hand the safety benefits built into their race-bred machines ? all of which are powered by the high-tech quad cam Boss 290, the only V8 engine to be produced in Australia.
Ford Performance Vehicles is the only Australian car manufacturer that includes a defensive and performance driver-training course with every new vehicle sold from its range.
Conducted and managed by the John Bowe Institute of Driving, the defensive and performance driving course is tailor made for owners of the new Ford Performance Vehicles range and is designed to provide them with a greater awareness of safe driving practices, the benefits and correct use of safety systems such as anti-skid brakes and traction control as well extracting the best performance from their Ford Performance Vehicle in a controlled environment.
The course includes expert tuition from high-profile Australian racing drivers, such as former V8 Supercar champion and FPV?s independent vehicle development auditor John Bowe, champion openwheel drivers Paul Stokell and Greg Ritter and Carrera Cup front runner Matthew Coleman.
?Ford Performance Vehicles is committed to building the benchmark range of high-performance cars in Australia,? says David Flint, managing director of Ford Performance Vehicles.
?We are just as committed to making sure the owners of our vehicles know how to get the best from their car and understand the benefits of the active safety systems in all FPV cars, with first-hand experience in a controlled and professional environment.
?The defensive driving course is just another part of FPV?s philosophy of providing our owners with the ?Total Performance? package.?
Bowe says FPV?s pioneering aim to improve driver training highlights the company?s responsibility to the community.
?What we?re trying to do is make sure the drivers are up to the task of driving a high-performance car properly, but we also add a fair degree of fun into the course in a controlled environment so that the owners get to experience exactly what their FPV car is capable of,? Bowe says.
?FPV should be commended for its defensive driver training initiative.?
All FPV owners are provided with the opportunity to participate in the Defensive Driving Course as part of the purchase of every new FPV vehicle.
Courses will be conducted by the John Bowe Driving Institute for FPV owners in all major metropolitan areas of Australia.
