After its debut in Canberra in March, the team has worked on improving the performance of the Focus and concentrating on strengthening areas of the car.
In Canberra the car suffered a broken differential mount; this has been just one of the areas to receive attention in the lead-up to the WA event.
"Our outing in Canberra provided us with a lot of information on the Focus," said Technical Manager Steve Hoinville.
"We not only went through the obvious areas that needed attention, but also pretty much the entire car. Overall we are pleased with the car's development.
"The rough conditions in Canberra were a great test for the car and we gained a lot of valuable information. The next event in WA will be run on a very loose surface, so again we will gain a lot from running in those types of conditions.
"Our goal remains to improve the car every time it goes into competition. We do have a lot still to learn, but we are hopeful of making further gains in WA."
Driver Michael Guest is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel ahead of the Quit Forest Rally.
"The gap between the first two events is pretty long, so I'm looking forward to getting back in the office," said Guest.
"I'm still working on getting the most out of the rear-wheel-drive Focus. That has required me to change my style to better suit the car's characteristics.
"The expertise within the team has me confident going into WA. It'll be a big challenge, but rallying is about meeting those challenges."
The Pirtek Rally Team Ford will be taking part in launch activities for the XR5 Turbo Focus road car later this week at Riverside Oaks outside Sydney. The rally car will be running during that launch, before heading back to Melbourne for an extensive forest test.
