OzEmail to Debut New Falcon at Phillip Island

OzEmail Racing will debut its first ever built Ford Falcon XR8 racer in the hands of Brad Jones at the opening round of the 2001 Shell Championship Series on March 24 and 25 at Victoria's Phillip Island.

Totally built in-house at the team's Albury based race shop, the new V8 Supercar combines a full year's campaign in the Shell Championship, with other ideas from many years experience across different categories.

"2000 was a totally new ball game for us, but this season is about gaining top results," said Brad.

"This car is totally engineered by our team, giving us full understanding as to how we best get the most out of the Falcon at all the circuits.

"We aren't talking about having it up to speed in the future, we aim to be on the pace from Phillip Island".

The 2001 Supercar season features a new range of initiatives to improve the V8 spectacle. Phillip Island includes a top-10 shootout as well as compulsory four-tyre pit stops in the two 28-lap races.

OzEmail Racing is one team with plenty of pit stop experience, after carrying out tyre changing duties in Super Tourer racing over three seasons.

"Our guys were the best at pit stops in Super Touring, and I'm confident that we will be amongst the best in V8's," said team manager Kim Jones.

"Every bit gained on the track is easily lost in the pits, so our aim is to gain on the track and go further ahead with our pit work".

The OzEmail team had a final shakedown of the new Falcon V8 Supercar at a final test session at Winton Raceway (Victoria) today (Tuesday 20 March). The team tested the car side-by-side with last year's Falcon, to fully evaluate the car's performance before Phillip Island. Already signs are promising of an improvement with the new car.

The 2000 racer will act as back up for the Phillip Island meeting and throughout the 2001 season.
