Ford's all-new Territory crossover vehicle will be on display for the first time in Sydney at the Sydney International Motor Show, starting October 16, 2003.

It will join one of Europe's most popular small cars, the Ford Fiesta, as the stars of Ford Australia's motor show stand.

Both the Ford Territory and the Ford Fiesta will be launched in Australia in the first half of 2004. Representing either end of the passenger vehicle spectrum, they complete Ford Australia's line-up in Australia.

"Territory is the most significant automotive engineering project we've ever undertaken," says Ford Australia General Marketing Manager, Mr Graeme Woodlands.

"It represents the culmination of years of research into customer needs and wants. Territory will be the vehicle that provides the answers for those unmet needs and we're excited to be showing it in Sydney more than six months ahead of its launch date."

On sale in the second quarter of 2004, Territory will be the first Australian crossover vehicle to offer a choice of all-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive variants. Customers will also be able to choose between a five or seven seat configuration.

"Achieving close to the level of interior flexibility offered in Territory has, in the past, meant customers had to choose either a people mover or large 4WD vehicle when, in a lot of cases, they didn't really need ? or want ? the 4WD capability. Territory will allow them to choose the set-up that best suits them," said Mr Woodlands.

Also to be launched in 2004, the Ford Fiesta will share the limelight on Ford's motor show stand. The award-winning European small car will particularly appeal to many Sydneysiders who are constantly negotiating heavy traffic.

"Fiesta's German engineering and contemporary European styling will appeal to people who are looking for a quality small car," says Mr Woodlands.

"Award-winning driving dynamics combine with an engine that is very quick off the mark to provide an exceptional driving experience. The roomy interior and an extensive range of vehicle features complete the Fiesta picture."

The Ford stand will also feature the full range of Ford Performance Vehicles, including the new GT, GT-P and Pursuit Ute.

Other vehicles on display will include the new Falcon RTV Ute, the Fairlane G220, the Falcon XR8, the Falcon XR6 Turbo, Escape, F-Series and the Focus ST170.

"Ford Australia's stand will feature a vehicle to suit just about every possible taste and requirement. We'll also be having special guest appearances by some of our motor sport heroes," said Mr Woodlands.

Further details about the all-new Ford Territory and the Ford Fiesta will be revealed at the 2003 Sydney International Motor Show.
