The bright blue XT Falcon was in the hands of a smiling Geoff Polites, president Ford of Australia.
"This car is the culmination of many years planning and development," he said. "We've been progressively revealing details of the new range to the media and the public, but nothing beats the feeling of having the first production vehicle roll off the line."
"The depth of newness in the BA range is such that today is a very special day for every single employee in the company," he said. "This is a very significant day for us all."
The national media drive programme for BA Falcon will take place next week and the cars will be in dealer showrooms by month end.
