Marcos Ambrose heads to one of his favourite venues on the back of his best NASCAR Busch Series result when the Australian races in the Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee this weekend.

Ambrose, who finished sixth at the Dover International Speedway last weekend, faces a similar venue this weekend in “Music City” as both venues are all-concrete speedways. In terms of length Nashville is only slightly longer at 1.333-miles as opposed to Dover’s “Monster Mile”.

Ambrose earned his equal best finish in NASCAR at Nashville last season, finishing third in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the venue on August 12.

This weekend’s event will be Ambrose’s third at Nashville, with the NASCAR Busch Series running there on April 7 this year, where Ambrose finished a credible 17th after earning his best Busch qualifying position of second in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion.

Ambrose is confident that he and the Wood Brothers/JTG Racing crew can continue their current momentum this weekend in familiar territory at Nashville as the 30-year-old strives to maintain the lead in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.

Ambrose will also be out to cement his position in the top 10 in the NASCAR Busch Series outright standings, where Ambrose is currently eighth and the highest driver to never have raced in the top-flight NASCAR Nextel Cup series.

The former two-time Australian V8 Supercar champion will also be aiming for his third-straight Raybestos Rookie of the Race Award and his fifth for the season this weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to Nashville,” said Ambrose.

“Our team is growing every week. I’m feeling more comfortable behind the wheel and we’re starting to run better in the practice and qualifying as well.”

“It’s just a matter of time before we turn all that promise into great results.”

“Nashville is going to be my first track where I will be racing for a second time in the Busch Series, so I think it is a really good breakout race for us.”

“I think at Charlotte (on May 26) during Driver Introductions it was the first week where it felt normal, like I belonged in the series.”

“And I was actually about to start the race and wasn’t too concerned about what was happening around me. I was actually self-assured that if I did my job properly that it was going to be OK at the end and we’d have a decent night.”

“I feel like I’ve turned a corner myself and I think the team has grown with me and we’re getting better and better every week.

“It’s an exciting time for us. I just want to do well for the team, my sponsors and myself.”
