Total Falcon ute sales for March were 1469 topping the previous best monthly result of 1426 in November, 1999 (also set by the Falcon ute). 3780 utes have been sold in the first quarter this year.
"The Falcon ute offers a combination of cabin space, power, load carrying capacity and passenger-car-like refinement that no one else can match," says Ford 4WD and Light Commercial Marketing Manager Kevin Lillie. "We're delighted with the March result, especially in a market that is getting new entrants all the time. But we won't be sitting back and admiring our work; there will be plenty of action on several fronts to ensure the ute stays on top of the market."
To maintain the high level of interest in the Falcon ute range a number of XR product initiatives and limited edition value packs for the XL and XLS ute models have been launched.
200kW V8 or VCT for XR
Spurred on by the success of the limited edition Pursuit ute the XR range now offers the choice of a 200kW 5.0 V8 engine or VCT-equipped 4.0 in-line six-cylinder engine.
Air-conditioning is now standard on the XR6 and XR8.
Tradesman and SE – Back by Popular Demand
The Falcon 'Tradesman' has been designed with the workplace in mind. Based upon the one-tonne XL Chassis Cab ute the Tradesman is fitted with 15" alloy wheels, a colour-keyed grille and a 'Tradesman' decal on the cabin. A factory-fitted aluminium tray is also included as part of the 'Tradesman' package. This package represents over $1600 worth of extras.
The 'SE' (Sports Edition) ute is based upon a style-side XL and can be identified by 15' alloy wheels, a colour keyed grille, sporty polished aluminium sports bar, tonneau cover, 'SE' badging and a chrome exhaust tip. All up over $2100 worth of extras has been fitted to the 'SE'.
The 'Tradesman' and 'SE' will retail for the same recommended retail price as an XL chassis-cab and XL style side respectively. (5-speed, XL Chassis Cab - $23, 070, 5-speed XL styleside - $23,930).
New Marlin – A Great Catch
The new, limited edition Marlin is based upon a XLS styleside ute and offers over $3,000 of features for no extra cost. Marlin content includes air-conditioning, a six-disc in-dash sound system, polished aluminium sportsbar and tonneau cover and chrome exhaust tip. The recommended retail price for a 5-speed manual XLS styleside ute is $27,425.
Standard Features
The six-cylinder, four litre, fuel injected, 'Intech' engine produces a class-leading 157kW of power at 5000rpm and 357Nm of torque at 3000rpm. A raft of standard features including standard driver airbag (a passenger airbag is optional), CD-player, Ford's 'Smartlock' engine immobilisation system, remote entry, 'distance-to-empty' read out, audible speed-alert, rake and reach steering wheel adjustment, 'quick-tilt' driver and passenger seats (for easy access to the storage space behind the front seats), combine to set the Falcon ute apart in the light commercial sector.
The Falcon ute is also the only light commercial available in Australia to offer a Dedicated LPG option. The Dedicated LPG Falcon ute offers considerable cost benefits, including reduced tailpipe emissions and performance and range that is very close to its petrol sibling. It comes complete with a factory backed 3-year/100,000km warranty.
