Mike Jarvis to Retire from Ford

The following announcement was made at Ford Australia today.

“Geoff Polites, President of Ford Australia, is announcing that Mike Jarvis, General Manager – Communications for Ford Australia and New Zealand has decided to retire on April 30th, 2001.

“Mike commenced his career in 1958 as a Journalist for the Derby Evening Telegraph in the U.K., moving to Australia in 1960 to join the Melbourne Herald. He joined Ford Australia from Shell International in June 1978 as Public Affairs Programs Manager, following several years with Shell and leading Public Relations consultancies in Australia and the U.K. Apart from a break of five years in the 1980s he has served Ford in a number of Public Affairs positions in both Australia and U.S. since. Mike has been an invaluable member of the senior management team of Ford Australia and has made a significant contribution to developing and maintaining the reputation of the Ford brand.

“We wish Mike and his family every success and happiness for the future.

“Mike’s replacement will be Louise Teesdale. Louise has held several senior Public Affairs positions within Ford of New Zealand, Europe and Australia. Her responsibilities have included managing Motorsport Communication and External Affairs in the U.K., as well as leading Ford New Zealand’s External Affairs Department. She has also been responsible for the success of major European launches such as the Stewart Ford Team, Galaxy and Ford Fiesta.

“Louise’s background and experience mean that she will be a key member of Ford Australia’s Operating Committee. We wish her all the very best and trust she will receive everyone’s full support whilst transitioning into her new role.”
