Ford survived a carnage and emotion filled weekend to take out round six of the V8 Supercar Championship series in Darwin, with Craig Lowndes the outright round winner.
Taking out both race two and three today (42 laps each) in temperatures that saw Falcon V8 Supercar cabins rise to over 45 degrees in the Hidden Valley heat, ‘the kid’ has declared he’s back.

“It’s nice to be back,” said Craig Lowndes.
“In race three I had one of the best starts I’ve had in my whole career. It’s been a battle this weekend, so the winning result is a credit to the team.
“Track position here is critical given the limited number of passing positions and it’s important to maintain it all weekend which we successfully did.”
Lowndes proved he had sheer speed, clocking the fastest lap for race three in his #888 Falcon at 1:10.5819 seconds on the 2.9 kilometre circuit.
Yesterday saw him qualify eighth and drive a stellar race one to finish third, taking on the Holdens with unfaltering car speed and undeniable driving prowess.
The round win has moved him to sixth in the Championship.

“We’re still chipping away at the championship, we’re keeping a consistent pace. We can now match the Holden’s in qualifying plus we’re winning races.
“The next round is at our home track in Queensland so we are confident. We’re testing beforehand so we’ve got a good chance of backing up this win.”
Many Ford teams endured incidents and extensive damage throughout the weekend.
James Courtney had a dramatic roll in practice and a hard hit in race two, the Jeld-Wen Racing Falcon not able to grace the grid in race three.
Ford Performance Racing driver Mark Winterbottom was caught in a highly publicised incident with Jim Beam Racing driver Will Davison that also saw Russell Ingall and Jason Bright out on lap one of race two.
Jamie Whincup drove a consistent weekend and was set for a result to boost his Championship standings when he struck trouble with an oil seal in race three and was unable to finish his weekend.
