Laser SR2 Takes to the Streets of Adelaide

Olympian Tatiana Grigorieva will be among celebrities competing in the 2.0 litre Laser SR2 all-female celebrity race at the Clipsal 500 on April 9, 2001. Due to be launched in March 2001, the Laser SR2 is the next step in Ford’s revitalization of the Laser brand. It will feature an all-new 2.0 litre engine, a sporty appearance and aggressive stance – all designed to fulfill the aspirations of younger buyers.

“The SR2 is a fantastic addition to the Laser line-up,” says Passenger Vehicle Marketing Manager, Stephen Kruk.

“It is the ‘hero’ vehicle for the Laser range, which will also include a new 1.8 litre SR version. Small car buyers don’t want to sacrifice looks, performance or features in a small vehicle. The performance of this all-new engine will prove that they don’t have to”

The 2.0 litre engine will be complemented by 16” alloy road wheels, ABS brakes and lowered suspension, which will result in superior ride and handling.

The full body kit comes with front and rear skirts, side rocker mouldings, a rear mounted spoiler, and a big bore chrome exhaust tip. With these looks the integrated Ford designed and engineered Laser SR2 is sure to impress, according to Mr Kruk.

The SR2 features power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, remote keyless entry, illuminated entry, spot lamps, a single slot CD player and front dual airbags. Other standard features include air conditioning, power steering and an engine immobiliser.
