Johnson Continues Great Form at Calder

Shell Helix Racing’s Steve Johnson has taken second overall at the seventh round of the Shell V8 Championship at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne.

In a strong performance, the Ford Falcon AUXR8 driver took a race win and is now a real championship threat.

The round was won by Paul Morris – his first in the V8 Championship.

Johnson’s teammate, Paul Radisich, recovered from a disappointing qualifying, to take fourth overall for the round.

“I’m pleased with the result – but I know it could have been an overall win,” said Johnson.

“I took the first race of the day, but a poor start in the second race put us down the order.

“Our championship rivals did finish behind us, so we are continuing to make-up some much needed ground.

Radisich has climbed into the top 10 in the championship, and is now looking at further improvement in coming rounds.

“I started the day back in 12th position, so to come all the way through to fourth is a great result,” said Radisich.

“We may not have won this round, but we are certainly the team with the speed.

“Ford’s winning streak may have ended at three in a row today, but we’ll start that again in two weeks at Oran Park in Sydney.

The Oran Park round of the V8 Championship will be held on July 18 – 29.
