GT Returns To Mt. Panorama

The iconic GT badge has returned to its spiritual birthplace at Bathurst as part of Ford Performance Vehicles' latest advertising campaign.

FPV will today launch a bold and emotive new advertising campaign, highlighting the heritage of the famous GT badge by linking the iconic muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s with today?s high-tech FPV models.

The campaign features a classic XY GTHO Ford Falcon driving around the world-renowned Mount Panorama race circuit at Bathurst. As it disappears into the famous dips on Conrod Straight, it morphs into a new Ford Performance Vehicles GT and re-appears over the last of the rises.

With the inspired footage accompanied by the tones of the FPV Boss 290 V8, the television commercial will stir the soul of Australian high-performance car enthusiast.

?The GT Falcon became of the most revered cars ever made in Australia because of its racing success at Bathurst,? Managing Director of Ford Performance Vehicles, David Flint, says.

?It was only natural that we highlighted the heritage of the GT badge in our new advertising campaign.

?We believe we have bought the GT badge into the 21st century with our range of athletic and high-tech vehicles. We have captured the essence of the original GT but morphed it into a modern package with benchmark engineering, safety features and comfort.

?The television ad brings that message to life and into the loungerooms of our customers and fans.?

The campaign is the first to be created and managed by FPV?s new advertising agency, Magnum Opus.

It will be strategically linked to cover all aspects of advertising communications, including a 30-second television commercial, outdoor billboards, magazine and retail press advertisements.

The television commercial was shot on high-quality 35mm film, the type of film used to create the big screen Hollywood blockbusters.

The outdoor billboards will feature the XY GTHO Ford Falcon alongside the Ford Performance Vehicles GT, highlighting the synergies between the two classic high-performance cars.

Both forms of communication also highlight FPV?s Total Performance mantra, which guides the company to produce the most advanced range of Australian high-performance cars ever built, as exemplified by the FPV 32 valve, quad cam Boss 290 V8 engine, the only V8 engine to be developed and built in Australia.

FPV is a joint venture operation between Ford Australia and Prodrive, one of the world?s leading motorsport and automotive engineering companies, and is based in Melbourne, strategically located close to Ford Australia?s main assembly plant in Broadmeadows.
