The new National Business Park adjoining the national headquarters of Ford Motor Company in Campbellfield will bring a number of Ford's suppliers together onto location with direct access to the assembly line at the Ford plant, according to Ford Australia President, Mr Geoff Polites.Phase One of the development is nearing completion with the DANA plant ready to start supplying suspension componentry for the Barra range of Falcons. Construction of a new facility to house CMI Industries, which supplies raw materials for DANA, is further transforming the once-vacant 55 hectare site.
A number of allied business suppliers are currently under negotiation to become part of the business park.
"Rather than waiting for parts to be transported from other locations as we did previously, we now have a number of suppliers working on site, transferring their products directly to the production line as we need them.
"Air International is another example of a business that has moved their operations to Campbellfield, giving us instant access to the seats and air-conditioning units they supply."
Polites said the excellence of the site, with access for B-Double trucks and boasting a location close to the Hume Highway and Tullamarine Airport, was attracting keen interest from other Ford suppliers as well as numerous non-automotive businesses.
