A record number of new Falcons will be launched to the public from the top of a 33 storey building in Collins Street, Melbourne.Four baby Peregrine Falcons, nesting on top of The Optus Centre with their parents, will be banded tomorrow for research and conservation as part of the Victorian Peregrine Project.
This particular model of Falcon flies at speeds similar to a V8 Supercar when hunting its prey. Peregrines cannot build their own nest and normally lay eggs on a cliff ledge, but this couple has found sanctuary on the top of the building in the heart of Melbourne.
