Market leader Ford Australia today announced a new three year/100,000 kilometre, “bumper to bumper warranty across its entire range of locally manufactured and imported passenger cars and light trucks.
The new warranty provisions apply primarily to all vehicles first registered or used on or after January 1 this year.
However Ford has also extended the new warranty to cover the new vehicle lines launched in the last quarter of 1996, including EL Falcon (and long wheelbase derivatives), its new four wheel drive entry, the Explorer and the new Mondeo and Laser models launched in December.
The three year/100,000 kilometre warranty provisions also retrospectively cover the Ford Taurus, which was introduced to the Australian market in March, 1996.
Owners of eligible vehicles purchased before today’s announcement will shortly get a New Year’s surprise when notified in writing by Ford of their new warranty coverage.
Ford Australia President, Mr David Morgan, said today the major warranty changes had been introduced to reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction.
“It also reflects our confidence in the quality of the products we sell in Australia – whether they are locally manufactured or sourced out of Europe, Asia or the United States” he said.
“We believe we now offer the widest range of products covered by a three year warranty in Australia.
“And we are the only local manufacturer to offer a three year, bumper to bumper warranty across the entire passenger and light commercial range”.
Mr Morgan said Ford Australia offered products of world class quality and was willing to back them up with generous warranty provisions.
“One of our strengths is our dealer network and the warranty changes demonstrate our confidence in their continuing pursuit of greater value for their customers” he said. He added that Ford dealers enthusiastically supported the new initiative.
Since early last year Ford has refreshed virtually its entire vehicle line, while adding to the range with vehicles such as Explorer, Taurus and Transit vans. Competitive pricing adjustments, teamed with the new warranty provisions are expected to further strengthen Ford’s leading position in the Australian marketplace.
Mr Morgan said the extended warranty also covered vehicles modified by its performance partner, Tickford Vehicle Engineering, which provides a range of enhancements to the Falcon range, including handling packages, LPG installations and the high performance XR vehicle range.
