Ford is ready to dominate the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series, starting with this weekend’s opener the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, with all Ford teams working towards a deserved Championship win.

Clipsal was clearly a Ford event last year with Triple Eight’s Craig Lowndes winning race one, and teammate Jamie Whincup impressing all by winning race two and taking the top podium position for a round win.
Ford continued its success throughout the 2006 season, claiming the manufacturer’s title with seven round wins.

“The 2006 V8 Supercar Championship was outstanding for Ford,” said Ford Australia President Tom Gorman.
“We won the majority of rounds, including the biggest and toughest events such as Clipsal and Sandown, and the most coveted of all, the Bathurst 1000.
“There is no doubt that we deserved to win the Championship, and I can tell you, we are looking forward to winning this year.”
With all Ford teams sporting the new look BF Falcon aero package on the grid at Clipsal and a talented and capable line up of drivers, backed by dedicated and experienced teams, Ford is going all out to win in 2007.
“Overall, we had a tremendous year in 2006, winning all the major races including the three endurance events,” said Ford Racing Manager Ray Price.
“While we were disappointed with the way things unfolded at the end of the year, we are heading into the 2007 Championship more determined than ever to win.
“Testing has shown that the BF Falcon will be competitive, our teams and drivers are confident that we’ve come up with the right package.
“The BF drives well and has the balance that we’ve lacked in some areas in the past.”

The Ford BF Falcon boasts a new front splitter for improved balance, plus modified side skirts for enhanced air flow.
A new rear bumper with a larger opening will allow the air from under the car to exit more efficiently, while a change to the rear spoiler allows for a revised angle for improved rear down force.
“Our cars have adapted nicely to the new aero package and we’ve had speed in testing, but we must keep in mind that we are yet to see the VE under race conditions, and with ongoing development we expect them to be very competitive,” said Price.
“It should make for an exciting season and we?re looking forward to getting started.”
Ford’s crop of young drivers, including Mark Winterbottom, Jamie Whincup, James Courtney and Will Davison are expected to be among the most competitive on the grid, especially now they have more experience behind them.
“One of the things we’ve ensured is that we have good young talent and we saw our four youngest, newest guys show some great promise and achieve good results last year.
“Winterbottom excelled with a win at Sandown and third place in the Championship, Whincup won Clipsal and Bathurst, Courtney had multiple podium finishes and Davison set some blistering pace throughout the season.
“There are a lot of experienced guys out there in V8’s ? including John Bowe who is about to embark on his final record-equalling season – but our young guys are more than up to the task and will certainly take them on.
“And obviously Craig Lowndes will also be out there looking to improve on last season’s result.”

“The challenge begins at Clipsal which is a difficult yet exciting track, it’s tight and twisty with a lot of concrete, and the high temperatures that Adelaide usually experiences at this time of year make for a tough weekend.
“It is up to the drivers to make sure that their off season fitness preparation is immaculate, a number of the Ford individuals have undertaken heat programs as part of their training to make sure they can handle the challenges brought on by that sort of heat.”
The Ford V8 Supercars will hit the track at this weekend’s Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from 1-4 March 2007 where temperatures in the high 30’s are predicted.
