Ford and Stone Brothers Racing Sign Five-Year Deal

Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) has formed a long-term alliance and secured its future as a key Ford team in the V8 Supercar Championship Series for at least the next five years.

SBR?s Ross Stone and Jimmy Stone, along with Ford?s Motorsport Operations Manager Stephen Kruk, signed the long-term deal at Oran Park in Sydney today.

The partnership is a continuation of a strong relationship that was first developed when Stone Brothers Racing came into existence in 1998. This new partnership deal is for the next five years with a possible four-year extension, on a mutual option.

SBR currently campaign two cars in the V8 Supercar Championship Series and have won the last five consecutive rounds of the title chase ? they are hoping to make it six in a row with round eight at Oran Park this weekend.

The team also recently won the Konica V8 Supercar Series with their young star Mark Winterbottom, who was signed as part of SBR?s youth program last year.

SBR has always wanted an on-going partnership with Ford as its first choice, according to team principal Ross Stone.

?We have developed a great relationship with Ford and we wanted that to continue,? he said.

?We have a developed a great team around us which only has one focus ? winning races.

?And we want to continue to do with Ford.

?Such a long-term deal also provides terrific stability for the team and lets all our staff know that SBR and Ford are serious about the future.?

SBR has set the benchmark for all Ford Teams and has set itself up as a point of engineering excellence. SBR has been the leading team from the Blue Oval brigade during the last two seasons.

SBR will play an active role in creating corporate awareness of Ford?s racing program and in the promotion of the championship as a whole.

?Ross and Jimmy have been flying the Ford flag for many years and it?s great to have a deal that will see them doing that for at least the next five years,? said Mr Kruk.

?The deal with SBR is as much about providing them with stability as it is about saying that Ford will continue to make a long-term commitment to V8 Supercar racing.

?Ford is delighted with the performance of the team with the new BA Falcon.

?If there?s a word that sums up SBR it?s loyalty. We have been aware that other parties have been keen to get SBR on their books, but Ross and Jimmy have always been keen to stay with Ford.

?SBR complements our commitment to Ford Performance Racing, and in the coming months we?ll settle on our full V8 Supercar team commitment for the coming years.?
