Ford World Rally Star to Warm Up for Rally Oz On the Gold Coast

BP-Ford World Rally Star Marcus Grönholm will visit the Gold Coast Indy event as part of preparations for Rally Australia in Perth.

The winner of five World Rally Championship rounds so far in 2006, including last weekend’s rally of Turkey, will be enjoying some relaxation with his family on the Gold Coast as well as take part in a day’s action of V8 Supercar and Champcar racing.

Grönholm will start his weekend fix for speed with a visit to Warner Bros. Movie World on Thursday 19 October at 9am. His day will include a ride aboard the Superman Escape roller coaster; the ride that travels from 0-100km in just two seconds!

Media wanting to attend the Warner Bros. Movie World opportunity are asked to meet at the main gate security, as this will take place before the park is opened to the public.

The two-time World Rally Champion will drive one of the pacecar sessions on the Saturday, including the winners of the Ford Focus ‘Smooth As’ promotion.

The Finnish rally star will watch one of the Champcar practice sessions as well as take in the V8 Supercar’s opening race on Saturday afternoon.

Ford Racing will hold a media conference with Gronholm at the Indy media centre on Saturday at 11am.

Gronholm will watch the opening champcar practice session on Saturday from the Forsyth Racing pit at 10am. He will drive the Focus pacecar at 1.20pm. Then complete his day watching the V8 Supercar race from the Ford Performance Racing garage at 4pm.
