Although not part of the V8 Championship Series, there will be no holding back in front of what is the biggest crowd of the year.
Leading the Ford charge will be 2001 V8 Grand Prix pole sitter Marcos Ambrose (Pirtek Racing) and winner of races two and three of last year event, Paul Radisich (Shell Helix Racing).
Both Queensland-based drivers took part in final testing at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday 19 February along with six other Ford entries.
Ambrose stunned his rivals at the Grand Prix last year, grabbing pole in his debut outing in a V8 Supercar.
?It was a surprise, but I showed throughout 2001 that I?m aiming to make my mark in V8 racing,? said Ambrose.
?Our Pirtek team has made some strong gains in the off-season and we?re confident of getting things off to a strong start at the Grand Prix.
?The circuit itself is very demanding, any mistake usually end up against a concrete wall, so I?m aiming to keep it clean?.
After three years on Bridgestone ?control? tyres, the Grand Prix event will be the first race on an all-new Dunlop tyre.
Radisich does not believe this will be a major drama for his Shell Helix team.
?There has been no problems with the new Dunlop tyre and I?m pretty sure we can make the most out of it,? said Radisich.
?The Grand Prix races are relatively short, so you have to go for it straight away. It?s the kind of challenge that I really enjoy.
?2001 was a good weekend for me, more of the same in 2002 would give our team a great confidence boost going into the championship proper?.
The Grand Prix V8 event features three V8 races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the weekend, with practice and qualifying will be held on Thursday.
Organisers have made available an additional two spots on the grid (total of 34) making way for the V8 debut of ex-Williams Formula 1 test driver Max Wilson (Betta Electrical Racing).
