Ford V8 Star Chooses Off-Track F-Series Workhorse

The hottest driver in V8 Supercar Racing, Marcos Ambrose, is a man who likes plenty of power and that?s exactly what he?s chosen for his road vehicle with the Ford F250 4x4 Super Cab 7.3 litre Turbo Diesel.

The winner of four of the six rounds so far contested in the V8 Championship Series, Ambrose spends 14 weekends a year behind the wheel of the awesome Pirtek Racing Ford Falcon BA Supercar, a vehicle that produces 617NM of torque and a stunning 480 KW of power.

The other 38 weekends a year he?s behind the wheel of his turbo diesel Ford F250 Super Cab, a vehicle that produces an even more impressive 684NM of torque - 67 more than his racecar.

The hero of Ford?s V8 Supercar campaign in 2003, Ambrose thought it only appropriate that he look toward the hero model of the F-Series range.

Along with partner Sonja, the 26-year-old lives on a property on the Gold Coast hinterland and with plenty of work to do around the farm he was after a true workhorse.

?The Ford F250 is the perfect vehicle for me on non-race weekends as I really get stuck into work around the property,? said Ambrose.

?Our place is a sanctuary away from the world of V8 Supercars and I really enjoy working around the property.

?The F250 grew on me when I drove one from the Gold Coast to Darwin last year for the V8 Supercar race. On the open roads and in the outback conditions it was very comfortable, despite being such a huge vehicle.

?When I first approached Ford about getting the 7.3 turbo diesel, they actually had to put my name in the order basket as sales had exceeded expectations.

?The great thing with the F250 Super Cab is that I don?t leave it in the shed, it?s also a great vehicle around town. We do plenty of outdoor activities, so we?ve got plenty of room for throwing things in the back and its towing capabilities are awesome?.

The F-Series line-up in Australia consists of F250 and F350, 4x2 and 4x4, Single Cab, Super Cab and Crew Cab, Pickup and Cab Chassis, with V8 petrol and diesel engines.

The F-Series has the most powerful engine in its class providing a massive level of torque. Designed with versatility in mind, the four-wheel-drive F-250 features enormous load space and has excellent towing capabilities.

The 5.4L V8 petrol produces 194Kw @ 4500rpm and 475 Nm @2500rpm
The 7.3LTD engine produces 175KW @2600rpm and a massive 684Nm of torque @1800 rpm.

Marcos Ambrose?s Pirtek Racing V8 Supercar has the following statistics:
