Having streeted the field at the recent V8 Supercar round at Sydney?s Eastern Creek, Ford Falcon driver Marcos Ambrose has now turned the corner to find a unique intersection in Melbourne.
In suburban Ivanhoe exists the corner of Ambrose Street and Ford Street!
Not believing it when he was told, the 26-year-old had to take a drive down to see it for himself.
?I?d like to say it was named after me, but it?s probably an intersection first planned over 40 years ago,? said Ambrose.
?Town planners are meant to be forward thinkers and that?s what I call foresight.
?When told, I thought it was a joke, but I did have to look twice when the boys from Ford took me down there.
?It would make a unique piece of memorabilia back home on the Gold Coast, but I don?t think I could fit the telegraph pole the signs are bolted onto into the back of the Ford F250.
?For sure it?s a quirky thing to be associated with, but it?s the motor racing record books I and Ford are interested in being listed, not the Melways.?
Ambrose takes to the track this weekend in his Pirtek Racing Ford Falcon at the central Victorian Winton Motor Raceway at round four of the V8 Supercar Championship Series.
