Ford Sales Go From Strength to Strength

October marked another excellent sales result for Ford Australia.

A total of 10,437 new Ford vehicles were sold in October, representing the best October sales result since 1998. Total sales were up 803 units ? or 8.3 per cent ? on the October 2002 figure.

Falcon sales were a key contributor to the total result, with 5897 units sold, up 645 units ? or 12.3 per cent ? on the 2002 figure.

The 2003 figure was the best October Falcon sales result since 1996.

"The October Falcon result is further proof of the continuing sales success of the BA Falcon," said Ford Australia Marketing and Sales Vice President Bruce McDonald.

"The figure is particularly remarkable when you consider we had a programmed one-week plant shutdown in October that reduced our Falcon, Falcon Ute and Fairlane output.

Year to date Falcon sales total 61,386; up a staggering 19,005 units ? or 44.8 per cent ? on the 2002 figure.

"One of the real success stories of BA Falcon is the XR range, and October 2003 was our second best XR result on record with 1630 XR6, XR6 Turbo and XR8 Falcons sold.

"Falcon Ute continues to rack up great numbers, selling 1775 units in October. That made it the best Falcon Ute October result on record, and up 600 units ? or 51.1 per cent ? on last year's number.

"Fairlane notched up 244 sales, making it the best Fairlane October sales result since 1999.

"October was our best passenger vehicle result since 1998 with a total of 7264 units sold, up 353 units ? or 5.1 per cent ? on the 2002 figure.

"Given the fantastic response from the Sydney Motor Show patrons to their first look at the innovative Ford Territory and exciting new Fiesta small car range, we are looking forward to continuing sales success," McDonald said.
