Craig Lowndes (Team Betta Electrical) will make his 100th round start in the V8 Supercar Series in Perth, while Westpoint Racing team owner Dick Johnson will combine his 60th birthday celebrations with his driver Glenn Seton's 40th to mark another century for that team!
Lowndes is enjoying one of his best starts to a V8 Supercar campaign in many years and is keen to mark his century with victory in Perth.
?There will be no better way to remember my 100th start than walking away with the first placed trophy,? said Lowndes.
?We?ve had a very fast car in the opening two rounds and are just two points behind third placed Paul Weel in the championship. Winning will be a major bonus for our championship challenge.
?Perth has been good to me in the past with four round wins and two pole positions, but I?m still to get a win aboard a Ford. I hope to be celebrating a century and breaking a duck on the same weekend!?
Sitting just outside the top-10 in the championship, Seton has also enjoyed success at Barbagallo with two wins and three podium finishes. Scoring a top result in Perth this year is a real possibility in the Westpoint Racing Ford.
?My mother and sister live in Perth, so I?ll have plenty of people to help me celebrate my birthday in Western Australia,? said Seton.
?I might be turning 40, but I?m not slowing down and along with the team we are certainly hungry for a top result.
?I?ve been pleased with my race pace this year, and if not for a little bit of bad luck in a couple of the races, we?d be well inside the top 10.
?For Perth we want to get on top of qualifying and bring the car home in a position that this team really deserves. Dick and I won?t mind another celebration if we have a good result!?
Ford comes into the Ford V8 400 in Perth holding down the top two positions in the standings with two-time defending champion Marcos Ambrose (Pirtek Racing) leading Stone Brothers Racing team-mate Russell Ingall (Caltex Racing).
The V8 Supercars hit the track on Friday for a two hour practice session. Saturday?s schedule includes qualifying and a top-10 shootout before the opening 50-lap race. Mother?s Day Sunday concludes the weekend?s activities with two 58-lap races.
