Ford Australia President, Geoff Polites, today served soup to Ford employees from St Vincent de Paul's Soup Van as part of the Ford Employee Charitable Contribution Scheme (FECCS) promotional week.

Donations from Ford employees through the scheme have increased the operation of the Collingwood Soup Van from three to five nights per week, and provide food and company to about 350 people per week on the streets.

The Ford contribution scheme also provides funds to four other charities through donations from Ford and its employees. Ford employees Australia-wide have the opportunity to make contributions to five charities – St Vincent de Paul, Smith Family, Greening Australia, Variety Club, and Salvation Army – through payroll deductions. FECCS Week has involved lunchtime visits from all five charities, to give employees a better understanding of how the money both they and the Company donate assists the charities.

Contributions through FECCS to the Smith Family ensure that disadvantaged young people and their families are provided with school essentials through the "Learning for Life" program.

Funds contributed by Ford employees to Greening Australia are currently supporting the revitalisation of Moonee Ponds Creek.

Donations to the Salvation Army from the FECCS support emergency accommodation and other family support services.

The contributions to FECCS for Variety Club have provided the Royal Woman's Hospital with new emergency transport service ambulances for sick and premature babies.

Ford employees in Geelong have had a similar partnership with United Way for over 30 years.

In 2000, Ford and its employees donated a combined total of over $200,000 to United Way and the FECCS charities. This generosity by Ford employees is replicated in their commitment to corporate citizenship activities and sponsorships such as Clean Up Australia Day, Youth At Risk and the Ford 16 Hour Community Service program.
