CAT Ford Performance Racing’s Jason Bright has finished second and team-mate Mark Winterbottom (Ford Credit / FPV Ford Performance Racing) has finished third at round #11 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, the Ferodo Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania.

It was the team’s first ever double-podium result and consolidated Winterbottom’s third position in the championship.
The round was won by Garth Tander, who finished just one-point ahead of Bright.
The weekend started on a positive note for the Ford Performance Racing team with Bright winning the first race from Winterbottom.
Today’s races were run in greasy conditions with drizzle falling throughout the day.
Tander won this morning’s race from Winterbottom with Bright in third. In the final race of the weekend Bright and Winterbottom switched places behind Tander.
“To finish just one point out of first place shows just how tight the battle was,” said Bright.
“I’m pleased for the team. Getting two cars on the podium at any round is hard enough, but when you throw-in the conditions we experienced this weekend it makes it even more special.

“My car was very good in the dry and just as strong in the wet. We made a couple of errors in this morning’s race and if not for that we could have been celebrating the win.
“There were plenty of teams that had dramas this weekend, to bring back two straight cars is another reason to celebrate.
“We now go to Bahrain and a totally new race. It’ll be an even playing field for everyone, so there’s no reason why we can’t be amongst the challengers.”
Winterbottom backed his second place finished at the previous round on the Gold Coast and closed the championship gap to new-leader Rick Kelly from 318-points to 272-points.
“Nice to be on the podium again, it certainly shows that we are one of the form teams in the series,” said Winterbottom.
“This was going to be a critical round. Craig Lowndes unfortunately didn’t have a great weekend for Ford, but we did and took full advantage.
“It was very trying conditions. Changing from wet to dry tyres is always going to have its fair share of dramas. However, for us the car responded very well and we were able to challenge throughout.
“The second-half of the year has been outstanding for us. I wish we had six more rounds and not just two! In saying that we’ll give it everything in Bahrain and then the final round at Phillip Island.
“There’s no reason why we can’t win one of those rounds.”

As good as it was for the Ford Performance Racing duo, it was the opposite for Craig Lowndes (Team Betta Electrical).
Lowndes came into the weekend with a 30-point lead, but a pile-up in race #1 placed him 27th at the finish. Lowndes recovered to finishing ninth in race #2 and seventh in the final race. Championship contender Rick Kelly finished fourth overall, while Lowndes was 12th for the weekend.
Rick Kelly now leads the championship by 73-points.
The V8 Supercar Championship Series now heads to the Middle-East and the first-ever race at the Bahrain International Circuit on 23-25 November.
