Update, Allan Moffat will be attending at 12:30pm

Ford will celebrate 100 years of global operations with a free family open day at the Ford Discovery Centre in Geelong on Sunday June 15 2003.

One of the first celebrations to mark the global centenary held anywhere in the world, the Ford Discovery Centre will throw open its doors at 9.30am and play host to Ford motor racing heroes Craig Lowndes and Marcos Ambrose, touring car legend Dick Johnson, Geelong Football Club luminary Billy Brownless, and an amazing array of historic vehicles.

One of the world's first Ford vehicles ever produced, a 1904 Model A Ford, will be on display, along with an exterior display of Ford Australia's first new vehicle of the company's second century ? the Ford Territory, which will be released in Australia in 2004.

Other vehicles on display include the new Ford Performance Vehicles GT and Pursuit Ute, Lew Bandt's historic 1934 Coupe Ute, the legendary Falcon GTHO Phase 111, and a BA Falcon XR6 Turbo ute ? featuring a unique Australian paint theme by Pro Hart.

Various Ford car clubs will also be displaying their collections and road safety displays will be set up along Gheringhap St by the Victoria Police, SES, Ambulance and VicRoads teams. Gheringhap Street will be closed to traffic for the day.

Other free family entertainment will include street performers, musicians, face painters, a handball competition and magic shows for the kids. The local Apex Club will also run a sausage sizzle, with all proceeds going to charity.

Ford Australia President, Mr Geoff Polites, said the event would be the ideal way for Australians to celebrate the 100th birthday of the company that put the world on wheels.

"The free open day at the Discovery Centre promises to be a great day out for Ford employees, friends and family," he said.

"Hopefully lots of people will come down and help us celebrate on the day."
