Ford employees are this week being encouraged to look for new ways to strike a balance between their work and home lives with an innovative program masterminded by Ford Diversity Manager Serenella Prelaz."Working hours have been a hot topic in the news over the past week, with claims that many Australian employees work hours that would be considered quite excessive in Europe," says Prelaz.
"This is the second year we've had "Worklife Week" here and our timing this year seems particularly appropriate."
Prelaz says that taking care of employees' physical and mental health is a priority of the company. "Our people are our greatest resource is an old adage of the company, and it's one we take seriously," she says.
"We have a very loyal and passionate workforce here, but it's important that they take time out to 'smell the flowers' sometimes. That's part of what this week is all about."
Activities planned for Ford employees at both Broadmeadows and Geelong range from advice on part-time study, investment, sustainable resources and careers forums for parents, to lifestyle and sporting activities, health and self-defence.
A detailed roster for each site has been designed to allow maximum participation in activities for shift and part-time workers as well.
The program will run throughout the week.
