Falcon sales in January totaled 4325 units, constituting the marque's best January sales result since 1985.
"We've obviously hit a chord with buyers and endorsements like winning Wheels 2002 Car of the Year and taking out two categories in the Australia's Best Cars awards have convinced potential customers to have a close look," said Marketing and Sales Vice President Bruce McDonald.
"Our January 2003 Falcon passenger figures were up 1522 units on 2002, representing a 54 percent increase.
"And XR Falcons continue to drive out of showrooms with 718 units sold, up a phenomenal 294 percent on last year's January figure."
Mr McDonald said the Falcon result was only one of many highlights for the company in the January sales figures.
"The January sales figures set Ford up for what promises to be a very successful year, particularly with the release of exciting products including Falcon XR8, FPV GT, Focus ST170 and the new BA Fairlane," Mr McDonald said.
