In addition Ford has extended its deal with the Bob Forbes owned V8 Supercar team through the same period.
The team will become known as 00 Motorsport.
?In just 12 months the 00 number has become synonymous with Lowndes and the Falcon brand,? said Mr Polites.
?Craig is an integral part of our marketing strategy and we feel that this extension is recognition not only of what he?s already done, but what we know he will achieve in the years to come.?
Despite being just 27 years of age Craig Lowndes has become one of Australia?s greatest motor sports stars. Going into his second season aboard a Falcon he believes that he can repay Ford for its faith with a title in the V8 championship.
?The continued support from the Ford Motor Company and all the people involved gives me a great deal of confidence not only for this season but into the future,? said Lowndes.
?2001 was a growing year for me and our team, but going into the 2002 season we are after just one thing ? the championship.?
For 00 Motorsport Director, Bob Forbes, the extension of Ford?s involvement with his team and with Craig means that they have the combination that will see both short and long term success.
?The V8 championship is getting tougher and tougher each year, but we have the package that can get the job done ? and that job is to win Ford?s first title since 1997,? said Forbes.
To achieve this the 00 Motorsport team has not limited its campaign to just Lowndes in 2002, with Neil Crompton aboard for a full season in an all new # 27 Falcon.
Along with the 00 Motorsport team Ford has another 17 officially supported drivers.
