Ford teams took two wins from three races, and pole position as well as eight out of the top 10 positions in races two and three at Albert Park.
Ford's winner in races two and three at the Grand Prix meeting, Paul Radisich, is confident of continuing that charge at Phillip Island aboard his Shell Helix Racing Falcon AU XR8.
"Our team has worked extremely hard over the summer to be ready for the 2001 season. Albert Park gave us a great psychological boost which we want to see continue at Phillip Island," said Paul Radisich.
"The circuit is of international standard where power is paramount - that's an area where we have plenty of scope and I plan to make best use of it.
The opening round of the 2001 season features two 28-lap races on Sunday 25 March, including a compulsory pit stop where at least four wheels must be changed.
Another key feature will be a top-10 shootout on Saturday following qualifying. As at Bathurst, the shootout will decide the first ten grid positions for Sunday's opening race. The finishing order from race one will determine the starting order in the second race.
A driver to watch at Phillip Island will be Marcos Ambrose. The Pirtek Racing pilot took pole position on his V8 Supercar debut at the Grand Prix meeting.
"I know how important pole position is in this type of racing; battling with the best drivers in the country is far easier when you are the one leading," said Ambrose.
"The Phillip Island races are much longer than Albert Park, and the pit-stop strategy will put a great deal of pressure on the crews, because a second gained in the pits could add up to quite a few places on the track".
Ambrose and his Pirtek Racing team are confident of success at Phillip Island after his predecessor Craig Baird took race two and third overall in the 2000 event.
Ford will field twelve factory-supported drivers in nine teams at the opening round of the 2001 Shell Championship. These drivers are:
