The GT, to be released in early 2003, was first unveiled at the Sydney International Motor Show last month. The new display at the Ford Discovery Centre presents a unique opportunity to examine a prototype of the 2003 model GT- yet to be released.
A clay model of the Ford BA Falcon Fairmont Ghia interior is also on display at the Centre. The interior model showcases the luxurious look and feel of the new BA Fairmont Ghia, providing visitors to the Centre a chance to explore all elements of the design.
While these models look like real Ford vehicles, almost every part of each model is constructed from a special clay blend of waxes, fillers and sulphur.
Following initial sketches and computer-aided three-dimensional electronic design, Ford designers mill the clay to produce full-size models of new vehicles. Modellers use precision tools to refine shape and design in order to gain approval for production.
The clay development models of the Ford Performance Vehicles GT and BA Fairmont Ghia interior join numerous distinctive and historical Ford vehicles on display at the Ford Discovery Centre.
Ford Discovery Centre operating hours are 10am to 5pm Monday to Sunday except Tuesday (Ph: 03 5227 8700). The Centre will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
