"Earlier this month we signalled the beginning of a new era in Australian motoring with the BA," said Ford Australia President, Geoff Polites. "Today's release of the XR range is further proof of the exciting times ahead."
The XR Falcon's dramatic lines promise to prove an instant hit among XR loyalists and performance fans from all walks of life.
"The XR nameplate has a proud history in Australia and a significant place in the Falcon line up. With BA came the chance to further enhance the strengths of XR while evolving it in a more modern, contemporary context," said lead designer, Nicolas Hogios.
Hogios, 28, joined Ford in 1999 after winning Wheels Magazine's Young Designer of the Year award. The XR represents Hogios' first exterior design project.
"The XR was designed in a more holistic way, a complete package, rather than just a "face". The car has aggression, road presence, and an awesome stance.
"The headlight design has evolved to become a more sophisticated iteration of the powerful XR quad-light signature.
"The surface language is heavily sculpted to create drama and purpose. This ensures that the light is picked up in relevant areas to create interest and movement. This is a performance car, and it should be dramatic," Hogios said.
