The model line-up remains unchanged, but has been substantially improved with the addition of key standard and optional features offering even better customer choice and value. Falcon ute buyers will now have an even greater ability to select a vehicle perfectly suited to their needs.
"Falcon ute dominated the market last year with a record-breaking 12 months because we offered the customers what they wanted ? a tough, reliable vehicle just as at home on the building site on Monday as it is cruising the highways on Sunday," Ford Australia 4WD and Light Commercial Marketing Manager Kevin Lillie said.
"The Series III enhancements build on those strengths and we look forward to cementing new relationships with even more Australians looking for the perfect vehicle for work and play," he said.
The XL model now boasts standard features including 16-inch one-tonne rated steel wheels, a body-coloured grille, contrast colour headlight bezel, dot matrix windscreen and clear side indicator lenses.
A new warm charcoal interior trim is an option for XL buyers.
XLS owners will revel in the power of a 164 kW HP engine, with optional Adaptive Shift automatic transmission. Other standard features include body-coloured mirrors, chrome exhaust tip, contrast colour headlight bezel, dot matrix windscreen and clear side indicator lenses.
New optional features for XLS owners are the Tickford bodykit and a heavy duty suspension package.
The Falcon XR Ute range retains the class-leading 172 kW VCT six-cylinder engine and the superb power of the 200 kW 5.0-litre V8. The Tickford bodykit is standard for all XR buyers, as are clear side indicator lenses and a dot matrix windscreen.
All these changes sit atop a standard package that includes the Supercab for increased cabin comfort and storage space, the unrivalled flexibility of a cab chassis design offering choice between style side box, factory aluminium tray or custom body.
And there's the option of the economy-busting dedicated LPG engine.
Coinciding with the launch of Series III Falcon ute are three special edition models ? the Tradesman, SE and Marlin.
The Tradesman is based on the Series III XL Cab Chassis and comes complete with a 16-inch one-tonne rated alloy wheel and tyre package and a factory aluminium tray.
In total, the extra features on Tradesman represent $2200 of added value, which will cost customers a $500 premium at recommended retail price.
The Marlin is based on the Series III XL SSB and, for an extra $500 at recommended retail price, offers more than $3000 worth of extras including a 16-inch one-tonne rated alloy wheel and tyre package and air-conditioning.
The Marlin further enhances the sporty XLS package, adding air-conditioning, a polished aluminium sports bar with tonneau cover and a six-stack in-dash CD player. That represents more than $3300 worth of added value to customers who pay just $500 at recommended retail price for the privilege.
The Series III utes will be available from Ford dealers in March with the special edition models coming on line in April.
