Sales of the award-winning BA Falcon continued to gain momentum in February.

A total of 6002 Falcons were sold for the month, making it the third best February on record and the best since 1996.

"Customers are liking what they see and are flocking to dealerships around the country," said Marketing and Sales Vice President Bruce McDonald.

"Our February sales figure was up 1813 units on last year, which represents a 43 percent increase on February 2002.

"It was also another record month for XR sales. With XR8 now in the mix, sales jumped up to 1173 units for the month, up a staggering 132 percent on last year."

Mr McDonald said the all-conquering ute, with another record month, had mirrored the continuing climb of the BA sedan.

"Falcon ute sales in February totalled 1584 units, which is the best February sales result on record.

"Focus continues to prove popular, climbing to another record sales figure with 1015 units sold.

"And the F-Series range of trucks recorded a record February result of 190 units."

Mr McDonald said total Ford passenger vehicle sales in February numbered 7235 units, while total Ford sales were 10,165 units.

"With the release of exciting products such as the FPV GT range and the imminent launch of the always popular long wheelbase vehicle line, we're looking forward to an exciting 2003.

"We continue to look forward and, as we revealed at the Melbourne International Motor Show, products such as the Territory all-wheel drive and Fiesta light car, Ford is determined to cement its ongoing sales success," Mr McDonald said.
