Sales of Ford's locally manufactured large car family ? Falcon, Territory and Falcon Ute ? have performed strongly during June, heading up a solid finish to the second quarter for Ford Australia.

In addition to the strong performances for Falcon (4,358 vehicles) and Territory (2,225 vehicles), Ford's small car line-up posted record June results, while Ford Performance Vehicles registered its sixth consecutive record sales month.

"Falcon has continued its momentum of the past few months, with sales up by 29 per cent versus May," Ford Australia Vice President Marketing and Sales Mark Winslow said.

"Territory also finished the second quarter on a high, recording its best sales result for the year of 2,225 vehicles to extend its dominance of the Medium SUV segment, while continuing to be Australia's top-selling SUV overall.

"It's now been two years since Territory entered the market and in 23 of those 25 months it has been both the top-selling Medium SUV and Australia's top-selling SUV overall."

Since its launch, more than 47,000 Territorys have now been sold in Australia.

"Falcon Ute and Courier 4x2 were also on the list of key performers in June," Mr Winslow said.

"Courier 4x2 finished with an all-time record total of 504 vehicles, an increase of 13 per cent compared to the same time last year, as well as surpassing the previous record set in June 1998."

Falcon Ute sales of 1,793 vehicles saw it record its best result to date in 2006, while Focus set a new June record of 1,422 vehicles, as did Fiesta with 490 vehicles.

"Focus and Fiesta have both set new sales benchmarks during each of the past three months, taking the combined sales of Ford Australia's small car range to its highest level since the second quarter of 1999," Mr Winslow said.

Overall Ford's small car sales are up by 61 per cent compared to 2005.

Ford Performance Vehicles continued its run of record sales results, setting another new benchmark during June of 226 vehicles. FPV has posted record sales every month during 2006, with the June result eclipsing its previous all-time record month, set in July last year.

The June result also completes a record second quarter for Ford's performance arm, with sales up over 15 per cent compared to Q2 last year, while year-to-date sales are up by almost 28 per cent.

Overall, Ford sold a total of 11,781 vehicles in June, which gave the company a market share of 12.2 per cent for the month.
