FTR Duo on Row Two at the Creek

Ford Tickford Racing’s Steve Richards and Glenn Seton will from positions three and four for tomorrow’s third round of the 2001 Shell Championship Series at Sydney’s Eastern Creek.

In a great day for Ford, fellow Falcon drivers Marcos Ambrose and Craig Lowndes will start on the front row following today’s top 10 shootout.

In by far the strongest team performance, Richards praised the entire FTR crew for his qualifying performance.

“We tested at Victoria’s Winton Raceway on Thursday and we have clearly made some great strides for this event,” said Richards.

“The guys worked non-stop since arriving on Friday and the cars have been right on the money – we are in great shape for tomorrow’s races.

“Pit stops will play a major role, but our crew is on a high and I’m sure they can get both Glenn and I back on the track in good position.

Glenn Seton is hoping to extend his great run at Eastern Creek. He won the round in 1993 and ’97, the same years he went on to take the series title.

“I can’t wait for tomorrow’s races – I’m feeling good, the car is terrific and the crew are on a real roll,” said Seton.

“The weather is sure to play its part tomorrow, with wet conditions forecast. Being up front will be all-important if there’s rain.

“The rain doesn’t concern us and I’m sure we will be smiling come tomorrow afternoon.

Championship leaders Jason Bright and Mark Skaife will start from positions eight and 10 respectively. Defending champion Skaife spinning off the circuit during his hot lap.
