Exploring New Features

Ford has further improved the 4WD Explorer, adding new safety features, colours, trims and upgraded wheels to the 2003 UX Explorer, now on sale.

The 2003 UX Explorer builds on the vast improvements made to ride, handling, safety, packaging and noise, vibration and harshness levels in the previous model.

Extra safety features in the 2003 UX Explorer include the addition of a lap-sash seatbelt for the second row centre passenger and a safety canopy as standard on XLT and Limited variants.

The special safety canopy is an inflatable nylon curtain designed to inflate between the side window area and the occupants to enhance protection during certain collisions. Combined with airbags and lap-sash seatbelts for every passenger, the 2003 UX Explorer provides an exceptional safety package.

Ford Australia 4WD and Commercial Vehicle Marketing Manager, Kevin Lillie, says, "The new features we have added to the Explorer, such as the extra lap-sash seatbelt, reflect our strong commitment to our customers and their safety."

Exterior changes include the addition of a fully chromed grille and upgraded wheels. The XLT Explorer wheels have been restyled and upgraded from 16-inch to 17-inch, while the Limited Explorer retains the 17-inch wheels of the current model. New colours Red Fire and Ceramic White tri-coat add further variation to the range.

Revised graphics on the instrument panel and a new Warm Steel finish on the panel and door trims refresh the interior.

The 2003 UX Explorer Limited model also gains a driver's memory seat as standard.
