Ford Australia?s relationship with Prodrive gives it access to the resources of one of the most successful motorsport and advanced automotive technology businesses in the world.
?Prodrive shares the commitment to all-round engineering excellence that was a hallmark of Tickford?s relationship with Ford,? Ford Performance Vehicles Managing Director David Flint said.
?However, the new Ford Performance Vehicles brand gives Prodrive the chance to build on that foundation, and further enhance it with stronger links to Ford?s motorsport involvement.?
Mr Flint said the Tickford focus on total driving dynamics ? including power, torque, handling, braking and the signature sound expected from a performance car ? would be a given with the upcoming Ford Performance Vehicles range of products.
?Ford Performance Vehicles will continue to develop and build specific Ford engines unique to their FPV applications.?
Mr Flint said Ford Performance Vehicles would be the public face, while Prodrive activities would focus on boosting the race-bred engineering character of FPV and further enhancing the Ford brand.
?Ford Performance Vehicles has some of the finest engineers in the country who can now draw on the global technical resources of Prodrive.?
Ford Australia President, Mr Geoff Polites said Ford Performance Vehicles would proudly carry on the traditions and heritage created by Tickford.
?Since they won the 1991 tender to partner Ford Australia in producing a range of high performance vehicles, Tickford has rightly earned wide acclaim for the development of true driver?s cars offering a complete package for enthusiast motoring fans.
?This exciting new venture, and the alliance with Prodrive, gives both Ford and Ford Performance Vehicles access to even greater technological resources, promising even more exciting times ahead,? Mr Polites said.
A wealth of talent
Prodrive boasts a phenomenal record in both motorsport and advanced automotive technology that will serve as the basis for Ford Performance Vehicles, providing the new company with access to a plethora of resources and knowledge.
?All it takes is a quick look at a summary of Prodrive?s motorsport achievements to recognise the quality of the partner we have with us in Ford Performance Vehicles,? Mr Flint said.
With access to 150 engineers, 50 different test cells, a 2.5 mile test track and a private proving ground, Prodrive leads the way in advanced automotive technology, including the development in the design of engines, transmissions, active and passive vehicle dynamics and integrated control systems.
